Jit Seng Hong Kong Roast Duck (日昇香港烧鸭) @ Carnarvon Street, Georgetown, Penang.

Jit Seng Hong Kong Roast Duck at Carnarvon Street needs no further introduction as the place is well-known for its lip-smacking Roast Duck (ala Hong Kong style) and infamous for its extremely slow service. Spare yourself an hour if the coffee house is fully occupied with hungry regulars but expect no less than 30-minute wait otherwise. Albeit the items here (including Roast Pork Belly/ Sio Bak) are priced higher than market rate but it is still one of the few places that you can enjoy a decent plate of Hong Kong Roast Duck Rice.

Half bird of Roast Duck costs Rm 24- juicy, tender but unavoidably greasy. The real draw of the rice will be their home-made gooey starch which seems to light up the whole dish. Their home-made sweet dipping sauce and chili sauce were complementing the Roast Duck perfectly as well. The Roast Duck was good but I thought it was somewhat over-priced. I had better ones, try the Roast Duck at Veron Coffee House (at Island Glades) which opens from 11 am to 2 pm; it should not be hard to notice as the business is brisk and long queues are often seen. Perhaps I should write a review on that soon.
