The new commercial building (Elit Avenue) near Sunway Tunas at Bayan Baru area has finally opened to the public and amongst the new establishments, St. Presso is a worth-mentioning one. The newly opened cafe takes on a rather simple but cozy and spacious setting. It does not have any eye-catching mural paints or funky furniture but rather, comfortable couches and ordinary wooden chairs. Foods were pretty standard-average on our visit but St. Presso is definitely one of the few cafes that exudes the warmth of home (at least for me). A good place to drop by for your caffeine fix or to grab a sandwich for your light lunch. Elit Avenue can be found opposite to the traffic light before turning into Sunway Tunas; or directly opposite to Pantai Hospital and Giant Hypermarket at Bayan Baru.
Sauteed Oyster Mushrooms Sandwich (Rm 13.50) with a side. Ciabatta bread was used and it was lightly buttered then toasted to a crisp. It was slightly dry to my liking but the filling was somewhat impressive. St. Presso sauteed the mushrooms with minimal amount of seasonings, with a dash of Thyme and generous amount of Onions for the crunchy bite and vege-sweetness. The earthiness of the Oyster Mushrooms stands out. A delectable snack to munch on or a light meal on its own. The side, however, was disappointingly average. It was ordinary fresh greens with Onions doused with Mayonnaise.
Their Apple Strudel (Rm 2.50) came in an unusual shape than what I was expecting; certainly not those that I've seen in Australia. The pastry skin was a tad thick and hard in texture to my liking; although the filling was okay (not too sweet) but I did not seem to enjoy it. Also, I had a hard time cutting through the pastry.
A complimentary Vanilla Chocolate Twist (selling for Rm 5) from the restaurateur. Similarly, the pastry skin was a tad dry and hard but the flavor was okay. It was not too sweet and heavy. However, this may not be a good choice for you if you are seeking for something Chocolaty or buttery as the flavor may be a little thin.
