A Date with Bloggers- Malacca Trip 2012

Organized by 1asiafoodguide.com, together with Criz from Crizfood.com and Chloe from Applefish1021.blogspot.com, we were very lucky to be invited to Malacca to attend their "A Date with Bloggers" event 2012 which the event aims to create a platform to gather fellow bloggers and to promote local attractions to the public. We were provided a one-night stay accommodation and food reviews in Malacca. This post will be covering non-food related programs only whereas the food-related programs will be covered as individual food posts instead. The event started from 19th of May until 20th of May.

First destination was Julie's Factory which situated at Alor Gajah, another individual post on our visitation to Julie's will be posted as well as I will be participating in their contest. A short summary about the visitation, we were brought to tour around and told about the details of their productions, some samples and a goodie bag which consisted some of their products were given to us as well. We had a very simply buffet lunch at their cafeteria before departing to the city of Malacca.

After reaching Malacca, we were brought to Sayang-Sayang Guesthouse and proceed with the guesthouse check in thing. We get to rest a while and leave our luggage at our own guestrooms. The guesthouse was very clean and cozy, we were given a double bed room which comes with an air-conditioner and a small table with table lamp. Although we have to share the toilets but we do not mind to do so as there were 5 separate toilets in total, water heater/shampoos were provided to us as well. Aside from that, water filter, small fridge, wifi, computer and a kitchen table can be used (sharing) too. The price is rather reasonable too, do check it out on their website Sayang Sayang Guesthouse Facebook Page. My stay at Sayang Sayang Guesthouse was a memorable and enjoyable one, I would recommend this place to my readers too.

We were escorted by one of the organizing committee members to this Uncle Keong Delicacies which situated right behind to our guesthouse. Uncle Keong Delicacies serves desserts mainly, especially bird's nest. More information will be updated on individual blog post.

We were brought to sample Eleven Bistro's signature dishes right after Uncle Keong Delicacies' visit. Eleven Bistro mainly serves Portuguese Cuisine, we were treated a scrumptious meal at this place, including seafood, local delicacies like Gula Melaka Chicken Wings and chili crabs etc. More information will be disclosed on individual blog post on Eleven Bistro.

The last program of the first night was about the opening ceremony of the event. After arriving Mahkota Parade, we were given a very limited time to walk around the mall and we took the opportunity to visit the famous Nadeje crepe cake house to buy them at privilege discount price (deduction of 10%). Photos showing the stage set up for that day's event.

Usual Speech delivery by organizers and VVIP and prize presentation to VVIP and sponsors etc. Fellow bloggers from all over Malaysia, Singapore and Philippine were asked to take a group photo at the stage. Try to spot me from the group photos ? Hehe. Well, I do went out with my friend to hunt for some local Malacca food like Satay Celup but that does not include in this program, and I will post as individual post as well. As such, that pretty much concluded my first day in Malacca.

My second day started off with a morning call from my phone, which was around 7:40 in the morning. After preparing myself, we had to walk down a long road down to this place known as Cheng Ho Cultural Museum for a simple breakfast. We were served with a plate of Fried Vermicelli and some Fried Egg, complemented with their home made chili paste and of course, some fruits as well. Not to mention that there were hot coffee and tea as well, so coffee, tea or ME ? We get the privilege to tour around the museum after the breakfast, which was situated exactly behind the cafeteria.

We were given sometime to change our outfits after the breakfast as required by one of the main sponsors-- Julie's, that was to dress in their T-shirt given to us. It was our honor too, that we had the chance to have a lunch with Malacca's Chief Minister-- Yang Amat Berhormat Datuk Seri Haji Mohamad Ali bin Mohamad Rustam. Before his arrival, we get to witness the demonstration of biscuits baking by Mei Zhong Yuan Biscuit Confectioneries and the making of chicken rice balls by Malacca's Hainanese Association. Bloggers get to experience/involve in the process of making those delicacies too. Some rather authentic Nyonya food were served to us shortly. Individual post will be posted to cover the Nyonya dishes.

Lastly, we were given some free and easy time after the lunch. After packing our own luggage, we headed to Kota A' Famosa for the group photo taking session. Just to summarize my trip to Malacca this time, it was indeed, a memorable and enjoyable one. Million thanks to the organizing committee for organizing this great event and I feel honorable to meet fellow bloggers from other places. I shall see you guys soon in the near future.
