G Inn Cafe @ Macalister Road, Penang.

Walking down the street of Macalister Road, you might have noticed that there is a new inn/motel, facing the church and Loh Guan Lye hospital's new building. Attracted by the new and eye-catching exterior design, I have decided to check their cafeteria out. G Inn Cafe is located on ground floor of G Inn and they offer a wide variety of both western and oriental delights. The cafe has a surprisingly good and cozy ambiance, and there are ample parking spaces right outside the inn too. Prices are very economical and reasonable either. The only drawback is their business hour, which they only operate until 3pm only.

Spaghetti Aglio Olio (Rm10). The portion was very big indeed, and it has loads of fresh seafood, with a lot of herbs used, namely spring onions, onions, basil, garlic, dried chilies etc.... It looks a bit different from the normal Aglio Olio that we had, they were using Basil paste instead, but the flavor was just not too strong, just good enough for me. Anyway, the spaghetti failed to possess the al-dente texture, which they were slightly over-cooked and the whole dish was obviously lacked of a pinch of salt and it has a hint of spiciness from the dried chilies. Overall, it was an okay-dish.

Chicken Chop With Black Pepper Sauce (Rm12). It was obviously grilled chicken chop instead of the deep frying version, it comes with three side dishes, namely spaghetti with mayonnaise, coleslaw and french fries. The chicken chop was reasonably flavored and well marinated with herbs and spices, but unfortunately, the chicken chop was too dry in my opinion. Hence, the texture of the meat was a bit rough and it lacked of the juiciness. The sauce was a bit diluted as well, I would prefer a thicker version of black pepper sauce.

Grilled Lamb Chop (Rm15) was a mere disappointment, the meat was too obviously too dry. Although it was well marinated and seasoned, the meat lacked of the juiciness and tenderness. Similarly to the chicken chop, this lamb chop comes with three side dishes and it has some sauce (brown sauce or black pepper sauce), and of course, the sauce tasted a bit diluted.

American Breakfast Set (Rm6). This set comes with two slices of buttered toast, an egg, a ham and a sausage, the side dish was coleslaw. Comments are not necessary since it should not be too hard to imagine the taste.

We also had six pieces of Spring Rolls for Rm4 too, we were given some Thai chili sauce. The spring rolls were deep fried till perfection and the crisply deep fried spring roll work well with the Thai chili sauce, can be a very decent finger food.

We had Black Coffee (hot) for Rm1.80, Ice Lemon Tea (cold) for Rm3 and Chrysanthemum Tea (hot) for Rm1.80 too.
