First Famous Federal Duck Rice @ Lorong Susu, Penang.

Passed by during lunch hour few days ago and this coffee house caught my eye, crowded and long queue of customers waiting to be served. So as the name suggested, they are famous in serving duck, but apart from that, they are also serving chat siew (barbecue pork), roast chicken, siew bak (roasted pork) and chinese sausages.

Two kinds of sauces will be served together with the white rice. They are not really white rice as in they fried the rice with some pork lard or chicken oil first before they cooked the rice. One of the sauce (sweet) goes perfectly well with the duck meat while the other one is meant to serve together with the rice, as in the usual gravy we used to get from most of the chicken rice/duck rice outlets.

Teo Chew Cai Boi will be served along the rice as well. Basically its a soup where people just throw everything, leftovers inside the soup and boil it. Well, at least i was told that way. Taste was decent. A bit sour tho.

Roast Duck. I am not sure if I should call it a roast duck as I saw it from my table. The duck was deep fried before it was served. So I assume its something like the Pi-Pa-duck style. Crispy skin but unfortunately, the meat was a bit dried out. I would prefer those duck with juicy meat and softer texture. This will suit those who prefer ducks with crispy and chewy texture.

Roast chicken, chinese sausages and char siew. The chicken feels a bit dried out too probably due to overcooked. Char siew was pretty tasty but they were abit sweet for me so do the chinese sausages.

Total damage was Rm 38 including 3 bowl of white rice. Was pretty cheap and economical due to the portion. Closed on every monday.
