Chu Yoke Weng Pi Pa Duck @ Pekaka, Penang.

If you are a duck lover then you must pay attention to this restaurant. It serves Pi Pa Duck (chinese name, the duck will be fried until golden brown. Crispy skin is what makes the Pi Pa Duck famous) Aside from the Pi Pa duck, this restaurant also serves the ordinary roasted duck, char siew(barbecue pork) and roasted pork. Other side dishes are dumplings, seafood toufu etc. They have various kinds of soup either.

I adore this special kind of chili, its a mixture of chilies and vinegar, its a bit sourish and spicy, very suitable for the duck and the noodles.

Pi Pa Duck (Rm 39 per bird). As you can see from the picture, the skin of the duck was fried till crispy. Special made sauce was added to the duck before it was served. Although it looks like the meat will be pretty dried up but the meat remained its tenderness and juiciness. Perfect to go with a bowl of rice or noodle. Highly recommended.

Fried Dumplings (Rm 1 each, minimum of 5 pieces). The dumplings were pretty good. Crispy but they successfully maintained the juiciness of the fillings. A small plate of mayonnaise will be provided to go with the dumplings but i would prefer chili sauce personally.

Stew toufu and egg (Rm 0.80 each) Both the stew toufu and stew egg were okay only. The eggs were abit disappointing due to lack of taste. I would prefer a heavier taste stew egg.

Dry Noodles (Wanton Mee, Rm 2.00 for small). The portion for the small ones are really small, you might want to order a large one if you are a big eater. You can opt for white rice too but i would recommend this. The noodles were perfectly cooked and topped with their homemade gravy. The texture of the noodles was nicely kept so do the smoothness. It works perfectly with chili-vinegar.

Seaweed soup (Rm 5.50 for small). Its recommended that you order a bowl of soup just in case those food are too dry for you. The soup was pretty normal and nothing special.

I haven't tried their barbecue pork and roasted pork before, as for the Pi Pa duck, i think this is the best so far from what I've found in Penang.
