The location of Gen-Ki Canteen 元氣食堂 is slightly off the beaten track... it can be found almost at the end of Greenlane, at the entrance to Island Glades. The place occupies a prominent spot- a bungalow unit in fact at a stone's throw distance away from Shell Petrol Station Greenlane. The offering is fairly complicated but we could tell that the menu consists a mixture of locals' favorites (noodles and rice dishes) with a handful of Toasts options. While the place offers a rather comfortable space to dine-in (fully air-conditioned), the prices are quite steep given the serving portion. More like a place for novelty experience in our opinion.

The Signature Hokkien Mee is probably one of the best sellers on the menu. We had the basic one at Rm 9.90 per bowl and it was.... basic. While we must agree that it was a decent Hokkien Mee (discernible Prawn flavor with a hint of Porky notes), the portion was small. Adding salt to the wound, we instantly regretted for ordering their Wolfberry Chicken Mee the moment we found out that the noodle type was in fact, instant noodles (pre-cooked noodles). While there were bits of fresh Cabbage, there were only 3 measly pieces of Chicken and could not justify the price of Rm 16.90 (not to mention that the serving bowl was a palm-sized bowl). To fill our tummies further, we also ordered a side of their Genki Roti Bakar Special- which was basically Toasts sandwiching an Omelette, bits of Bacons, a sliver of Cheese and a piece of Luncheon Meat... pretty straight-forward and imaginable flavor combo. Fortunately, their Genki Ice Blended Red Bean was good, at least it was served in a standard serving with generous amount of Red Beans. While we could not find fault with the taste, we just thought the meal was way too over-priced... especially the Instant Noodle dish at Rm 16.90.
