Pinwheel Resto Cafe @ Chulia Street, Georgetown, Penang.

It's easy to notice Pinwheel Resto Cafe... for its modern exterior in a heritage building along the bustling Chulia Street (next to the open space car park). But it does not suggest much, only its name and perhaps, chic interior from afar. The cafe offers a small Western menu with some Asian elements blended in... as well as some dessert choices. While we do enjoy the relaxed and casual atmosphere at Pinwheel, we found the menu to be on the weaker side... the offering seemed too ordinary for us to remember, though the food quality was alright.

Chicken Rendang Spaghetti (Rm 22.90)

Sliced Beef and Caramelized Onion Pizza (Rm 24.90)

The dishes at Pinwheel Resto are blended with some local elements. The Chicken Rendang Spaghetti is one good example. We found the Rendang flavor was spot on with strong presence of spices and the Pasta was expertly cooked but a pity that the Chicken was overcooked. Not only that it was overcooked with a rubbery texture, the Chicken pieces were cooked in the Rendang sauce... merely fried version, which we thought it was slightly off the Rendang theme. The Sliced Beef and Caramelized Onion Pizza was great but the crust was slightly too dry to our liking. Probably our personal preference, we would prefer the classic fluffy-soft doughy Pizza base but the toppings were perfectly fine.
