CP Museum Dim Sum @ Pulau Tikus, Penang.

If you haven't already noticed, there is something new on Penang's Yum Cha scene. CP Museum Dim Sum, a new Dim Sum joint housed next to a museum has taken social media by storm. Apart from the aesthetically pleasing Dim Sum dishes, the dining atmosphere is one of a kind here. Unlike any other restaurants, the dining space is surrounded by all wood... like an old wood house. Most of the tables, chairs are all made from wood... it gives you the impression that you are in fact, dining in an immersive wood forest. There are no Dim Sum carts here... you will need to order through the servers and the dishes will be served to you. The menu features many Dim Sum classics, with some creative dishes of theirs but prices are at least 30-40% higher than normal Dim Sum joints. While the taste did not disappoint, we thought the prices are still on the higher side and did not yield as much satisfaction as expected.

Hong Kong Styled Chee Cheong Fun 香港猪肠粉 (Rm 13.80)

Grouper Fish Porridge 石斑鱼粥 (Rm 23.80)

Xiao Long Bao 招牌小笼包 (Rm 15.80)

Portuguese Tarts 葡萄牙蛋挞 (Rm 8.80)

Crystal Dumplings 水晶虾饺 (Rm 9.90)

Roasted Pork Bun 蜜汁叉烧包 (Rm 9.90)

Most of the Dim Sum dishes here were served to us piping hot and the quality did not disappoint. The Unagi Dumplings were some of the more creative ones. As odd as the combination may seem, it actually works. The sweetness and unique flavor of the Unagi paired very well with the fresh, plumpy Siew Mai. Another variant- the Crystal Dumplings were delicious as well. Albeit the skin appeared to be slightly thicker but the filling was amazing. They did not skimp on the ingredients, each Dumpling contained a juicy, succulent Prawn. They were well-seasoned and additional dips were not required. There were some hits and misses but overall, we thought the quality was above average... but not good enough to justify the steep prices.
