The Glass House @ The Prestige Hotel, Georgetown, Penang.

The Prestige Hotel is a welcome addition to the heart of Georgetown... from outside, it looks like a huge Colonial-styled Mansion... with bright, airy entrance to the lobby. Just started its business operations in late May 2019, the luxury homegrown boutique hotel houses more than 150 rooms, event spaces, an all-day dining outlet and an arcade with a mix of retail outlets. The Glass House, found right next to the hotel lobby, is a charming space with equally bright welcome. Like the hotel, the place has a heavy dose of Victorial-styled decor... contemporary but elegant in its own ways. While the space is used to serve breakfast to hotel guests, it welcomes walk-ins all day long. The newly rolled out Semi-Buffet Lunch is a crowd-puller... affordably priced Lunch menu starts from RM 20 with unlimited helpings of greens and sweets. For the uninitiated, a flat rate of parking fee RM 8 is applicable for The Glass House diners.

Many Thanks to The Prestige Hotel for hosting us.

Crispy Chicken Gochujang (Rm 28)

Signature Beef Burger (Rm 26)

Smoked Duck Carbonara (Rm 26)

Nyonya Ulam Rice (Rm 22)

The Glass House's menu has a good mix of Western and Oriental dishes. Pasta lovers could go for the Smoked Duck Carbonara, a beautiful blend of creamy sauce with smoky Duck meat. Cooked al-dente, the Pasta is imbued with addictive smokiness as well as creaminess... creamy-rich but not overly so. The restaurant has a different interpretation towards Fried Chicken and influenced by Korean Fried Chicken, the Crispy Chicken Gochujang sees 2 chunks of crispy Fried Chicken served atop of creamy mashed Potatoes and served over sweet, spicy Korean Gochujang sauce... a dish that would please the Korean appetite in you. Feel like wanting something local? The Nyonya Ulam Rice is equally great- herbed Rice served with Chicken, Salted Egg and grilled Aubergine as well as their home-made Chili sauce. The Rice is delicately seasoned and good to go on its own but even better with the sides and their tangy Chili dip.
