Thong Sum Dim Sum 同心茶楼 @ Raja Uda, Butterworth, Penang.

A new Dim Sum joint found at the busiest street of Butterworth, Thong Sum Dim Sum 同心茶楼 started its business operations in mid April 2019 but has since gathered an appreciate following. The place is most crowded on weekends, expect to queue for tables during its peak hours (partly due to the limited tables). The Dim Sum restaurant is fairly modern with new tables and chairs; items are properly organized and arranged on the carts as well as display counter near the entrance. While we were happy to find out the wallet-friendly prices, we thought the choices were a little limited. Not a bad choice if you happen to be in the neighborhood.

Steamed Prawn Dumplings (Rm 4)

Steamed Chai Kuih (Rm 3)

Steamed Prawn Dumplings (Rm 4)

Steamed Fish Balls (Rm 4)

Prawn Balls and Steamed Pork Ribs (Rm 4 each)

Deep Fried Prawn Rolls (Rm 4)

Prawn Chee Cheong Fun (Rm 4)

Char Siew Bun (Rm 2 each)

We were pleased that all food served to us were piping hot. We particularly liked the Steamed Prawn Dumplings... we thought they did exceptionally well when it comes to Prawns. The Prawn filling was plump, juicy with an addictive bouncy-bite. The Chee Cheong Fun on the other hand, was a disappointment. The Soy Sauce was too scarce and did not actually complement the rice rolls well enough. We were also amazed by the fact that none of the above dishes exceeded Rm 4... a price that we could no longer find on Penang island.
