Ten Feng Tea House (天峰茶坊)- Tambun Claypot Crab Rice @ Macalister Road, Georgetown, Penang.

Crab lovers should not be new to the name- Ten Feng Tea House (天峰茶坊), the long-established Claypot Crab rice specialist is one of the "go-to" places when it comes to Claypot Crab rice. But some may not even notice its existence, the signboard introduces the place as a Chinese Tea drinking spot but not a place to enjoy the crustacean. But in fact, the place is known for its signature Tambun Claypot Crab Rice and miscellaneous Seafood dishes. Though priced higher than some and limited in in food choices, those who in the know return here for the quality. The place is pretty small... suitable for small family dining or small scale gathering; also, patience is required to dine in this place.

Update: Ten Feng Tea House will be moving to 260, Lebuh Carnavon by end of August 2018.

Signature Claypot Crab Rice (Rm 130 per kg)

Claypot Crab Glass Noodles (Rm 130 per kg)

Steamed Prawns and Glass Noodles with Chinese Rice Wine (Rm 7 per prawn)

Blanched Kai Lan (Rm 10/ large)

Chicken Herbal Soup (Rm 12 per bowl)

We started off with an invigorating yet tummy-pleasing Chicken Herbal Soup.... beautifully cooked with incredible depth of flavors. Seasonal offering like Steamed Prawns and Glass Noodles with Chinese Rice Wine was delicious either... with the right amount of seasoning and bold Chinese Rice Wine, the combination was lovely and most satisfying.

The signature Claypot Crab Rice was the highlight of the day... with alluring smoky aroma; it may seem huge in serving portion but it was the crabs that made up the space. It did not feel like a lot of Rice... we could detect Salted Fish in there... which introduced a "je ne sais quoi" kinda aroma.  Another variant- Claypot Crab Glass Noodles paled when in comparison with the Rice version.... the Glass Noodles registered milder flavor and it did not seem to appeal to us as much as the Rice did. On the Mud Crabs... they were fresh and succulent, each carried delicious flesh with salty Seafood essence.
