Garden Paradis @ Waterfall Road, Botanical Garden, Penang.

Enjoy a relaxed dining experience amidst the tranquil environment at Botanical Garden; a new establishment that proffers Japanese-Fusion menu has opened its doors to the public recently. It has the typical cafe setting as well as an outdoorsy dining area, overlooking the small river in the vicinity (be cautious of the aggressive, ravenous mosquitoes though). Garden Paradis starts to serve brunch menu as early as 8 am to cater for the morning park walkers. To find the place, locate Botanical Garden Horticulture Centre (where the famous Big Ben Breakfast place is located). You should be able to find the eye-catching facade of Garden Paradis from there.

We did not have anything in mind that we particularly want. We asked for recommendation and we were introduced to Yaki Soba (Rm 15.80). To make it a set, top up Rm 2.50, inclusive of a serving of Miso Soup, Salad and Fruits. To my surprise, the Yaki Soba was wholly delicious; though it exhibited a strong buttery flavor but the sweet-savory Yaki Soba sauce went well with the noodles. Best part of all, the noodles were carefully cooked to the right texture as Soba is often and easily overcooked. We enjoyed the generous amount of crunchy vege added- Cabbage, Scallions, Sprouts and Carrots. One of the best Yaki Sobas I've ever tasted.

We had an extra order of Yaki Gyoza/ Japanese Dumplings (Rm 8 for 6 pieces) which turned out to be amazing. The Chicken dumpling filling was well-executed, sheathed under a thin layer of dumpling skin and beautifully charred till golden brown. It was served to us piping hot, the dumpling was bursting with meat juices though slightly on the greasy side but it was well-balanced by the refreshing savory Gyoza dip.
