Bear Paw Cafe (熊手包) @ Gurney Paragon Mall, Penang.

One of the famous brands for Bear Paw Bun has finally invaded Gurney Paragon Mall, occupying a prominent spot on the Lower Ground floor of the mall (opposite to Sam's Groceria). The unique selling point of this brand will be their bear-paw-shaped Steamed Buns. Nothing to shout over for the food, pretty much a fast-food kiosk with burger-like concept or rather, a marriage between meat patty and steamed bun.

One of the healthier options- Sunny Bear (Rm 12.85/ ala-carte) comes with chewy-soft Brown Sugar Steamed Bun sandwiching Steamed Chicken Ham, overcooked Sunny Side Up, Lettuce, Tomato, a sliver of Cheese and drench with Honey Mustard Sauce (other sauces available are Tartar Sauce, Thousand Island Sauce, Teriyaki Sauce and Chili Sauce). It was not as bad as I was expecting, at least the Chicken Ham was thickly sliced, thus, a meatier texture. The extra sliver of Cheese adds another layer of dimension here, savory-cheesy flavor. It was a pity that the Sunny Side Up was overcooked, it would be ideal if the yolk could ooze out. The Steamed Bun, on the other hand, could be warmer. It was at room temperature when the Bun was served to me; the texture was good- chewy, soft but not overly so. It did not turn soggy although some of the ingredients were moist. Not too shabby but slightly over-priced in my opinion.
