Noor & Dean's Cafe @ Noordin Road, Georgetown, Penang.

Noor & Dean's Cafe is a newly opened cafe tucked within the building of Noordin Street House, a luxury boutique hotel in the heart of Georgetown. The quaint little cafe with retro interior design as well as the Peranakan antiques adorning the walls, it is possible to feel transported to the olden days. Noor & Dean's cafe has a very comprehensive menu which comprises of many fusion dishes as well as Coffees and desserts. Some of the notable dishes are Gado-Gado, Thai Laksa, Soto Ayam, Oyster Char Koay Teow and many more. The cafe does serve breakfast in the morning too. Prices are slightly on the higher side and their service could be more attentive in my opinion. Noor & Dean's Cafe is located at Noordin Street, known as "Ji Tiao Lor/ Second Road" to the locals; walking distance to 1st Avenue Mall Penang.

The presentation of this dish Shish (Chicken) Kebab with Olive Oil Based Pasta (Rm 26) was intriguing. The Chicken Kebab was well-marinated with spices and grilled to perfection. The breast was slightly dry but it was robust with flavors. On the other hand, their Pasta was cooked al-dente with some Capsicum and Button Mushrooms, finished with a sprinkle of fresh Parsley. Being one of their signature dishes, I was not disappointed with the taste, in fact, I was impressed with how the Chef blended in all the flavors equally; nothing was overpowering. However, I thought the Pasta was slightly too oily to my liking. I found my lips covered with Oil after a mouthful of the Pasta. Other than that, it was indeed a well-crafted dish.

Grilled Chicken Arrosto (Rm 26)- a beautifully grilled Chicken Thigh placed on a hefty dollop of Mashed Potatoes served with Mushroom Sauce. The Chef did a great job in marinating the Chicken, every chunk of the meat was evenly registered with flavors but it was not overcooked; tender as the way I like. The buttery tender Mashed Potatoes was smooth and delightful but even better with the Mushroom sauce. As much as we found ourselves enjoying the dish but we are not sure if we are willing to pay Rm 26 for a plate of slightly above par, if not, a standard Grilled Chicken Chop though. I'd prefer the first dish at this price.
