Myeong Dong Korean Snacks (明洞) @ Gurney Plaza, Penang.

Korean restaurants are common and can be easily found all over the isle of Penang but a small kiosk selling Korean Snacks is something unique and Myeong Dong Korean Snacks being the only kiosk selling Korean Snacks so far in Gurney Plaza. Myeong Dong Korean Snacks can be found at Lower Ground of Gurney Plaza, Penang. It can be quite hard to notice this quiet kiosk if it wasn't because of Facebook, I wouldn't even notice the existence of this little humble kiosk here. Myeong Dong Korean Snacks has rather limited choices to offer, while most of them being snacks, they are priced reasonably. Some of the notable snacks are Spicy Topokki (Korean Rice Cake), Ugly Potato Hotdog, K-Pop Chicken and Almond Egg Muffin. Take-away is highly recommended as the seats are pretty limited, nevertheless, this is a place where hardcore Korean fans should not miss.

Intrigued by the making process, I was tempted to order this Almond Egg Muffin (Rm 4.50 for one and 3 for Rm 12), an egg will be sandwiched between layers of Muffins and garnished with thin Almond slices. The strong aroma of Egg was further enhanced by the salty-sweet combination of the Muffin while the Almond flakes have added another layer of dimension to the texture, giving it a crisp-fluffy twist to the Muffin. It was my first experience tasting this delicacy and it turned out to be quite good for me.

This mouth-watering Spicy Topokki/ Korean Rice Cake (Rm 5.90) was just okay in my opinion. The sauce seems watery at first to me but surprisingly, it was abundant flavorsome with a hint of sweetness. It consists of Chicken Sausage, Fish Cake, Cabbage, Korean Rice Cake and a halved Hard Boiled Egg. However, the texture of the Rice Cake turned out to be slightly chewier to my liking. Moreover, this dish lacks of the "X" factor in my opinion, something that could attract me, probably extra chilies to spice up the dish?
