Table Twenty Three @ Irrawaddy Road, Penang.

I am pretty sure that a lot have heard of this restaurant before, especially from those online deal/voucher companies, which they have successfully sold more than five thousands of vouchers. Table Twenty Three, a restaurant that serves western food which located at Irrawaddy Road, just a few houses away from Harvest Inn. The ambiance was pretty good but parking can be a problem (very usual for that place). Service was extremely slow (took them one hour to serve us our food), mainly due to one person working (as waiter) only. I was trying to call them for reservation, but no one picks up the phone call and I was told that they do answer the phone calls during their business hour only. Choices are limited for western food, but they do have a few choices named under the "Japanese Corner" too, finger food and snacks are available either as well as alcoholic drinks. During my visit, there were some promotional set dinner offered too. Do note that there will be 5% service charge added to your bill.

Grilled Fish In Cream Sauce Dinner Set (Rm12.90). Each promotional set comes with a bowl of soup of the day, a drink (ice lemon tea or lime juice) and a main course only. The fish was grilled to perfection and topped with the cream sauce. The sauce quite normal but lacks of some taste. The herbs were not sufficient enough in my opinion. The fish was normal and nothing special to me.

Quarter Roasted Chicken With Mushroom Sauce Dinner Set (Rm13.90). As mentioned, it comes with a bowl of soup of the day and a cup of drink (ice lemon tea or lime juice). The portion was okay as they gave us the chicken breast. The chicken was a bit dry in my opinion and it lacks of the flavor of herbs. The chicken meat was a bit tasteless too, probably extra pinch of salt when marinating the chicken will get a better result. I would prefer more herbs sprinkled on the chicken too. Moreover, the mushroom sauce lacks of the mushroom flavor either, as in it was not strong enough to meet with my expectation. Overall, I would rate it as an average dish considering the price was quite cheap too.

The soup of day served was cream of mushroom soup. The portion was quite big and the taste was just alright. They were using fresh Shitake mushrooms as the main ingredient, thus, the flavor was quite strong. I would slightly prefer it to be slightly creamier but nevertheless, it was decent.

Grilled Lamb Chop With Add On (Rm18.80 for Lamb Chop, Rm5 for the Add On). One can opt to order the Ala Carte dishes from the menu and simply choose their "add-on" package (add on lunch- Rm3, add on dinner- Rm5). As for the add on package, a plate of fresh greens, a cup of drink, a bowl of soup of the day, a main course and a small cup of ice cream as dessert will be given. The lamb chop was definitely one of the best dishes of the night, the sauce was flavorful and the meat was okay too, as in it was tender enough for me to chew. Not too shabby.

Twenty Three Club Sandwich (Rm9.80) was okay, just that the price is on the expensive side, considering there's still service charge to be added to the bill. Well, the sandwich was a bit dry in my opinion, but the fillings were good, there were ham, fried egg, some fresh lettuce and tomatoes added, with a touch of some herbs. Some french fries were given as well.

Hawaiian Delight Pizza (Rm10.80) was a huge disappointment. The pizza was totally out of my expectation, I thought it would be the normal pizza, instead of using a pizza base, some corn tortilla was used. Some diced ham, chopped pineapples were topped. Cheese was then sprinkled but unfortunately, the cheese was not sufficient in my opinion, it lacks of some flavor. Although the corn tortilla did maintain the crispy texture but the sides of the tortillas were a bit burnt.
