Lynn Boutique Cafe @ Burma Road, Penang.

*** The restaurant has ceased its operation since then.***

Unique and special theme restaurants are mushrooming nowadays in Penang, one of the special ones that I have visited was Lynn Boutique Cafe which situated at Burma Road, Penang. Its a restaurant that serves Western cuisine but at the same time, it is also a boutique selling trendy clothing. The boutique was originally opened in Gurney Plaza and has moved into the current location earlier ago. The cozy and soothing ambiance of the restaurant makes it a very suitable place for all sorts of functions. The restaurant hosts parties with a minimum of 15 pax but it is limited to lunch only. Price-wise, is very reasonable to me, considering the quality and big portion of food served. The concept was very unique and interesting to me as customers can opt for some shopping next door while waiting for the food to be served, fully utilizing the time. I must also praise that the service provided in this restaurant was superb, the lady owner kept asking us whether the food served suits our appetite.

Soup of the day (Rm9.80), it tastes like tomato soup or Borscht soup to me but it was cooked using a lot of vegetables making the soup very nutritious. The soup was more to the sour side and was reasonably flavored. The sizes of the chopped vegetables were just nice either. It was just perfect to be served as an entree of the meal.

The Chicken Corden Bleu was in a set which includes a soup of the day, main course (Chicken Cordon Bleu) and dessert of the day. The portion of the chicken was surprisingly big and it was served with two side dishes, spaghetti bolognese and fresh greens. The spaghetti was a bit disappointing due to lacking of flavor while the fresh greens were tossed with some Thai chili sauce with some chopped garlic in it. The Chicken Cordon Bleu was very tender despite the fact that it was deep fried, the ham and the cheese were in the right amount that complemented the chicken meat well. Highly recommended.

Pan Fried Fish Served With Sauteed Potatoes (Rm16.80). The fish comes in a rather generous portion and the meat was quite thick. Although the name of the dish suggested that the fish should be pan fried, but it seems like its more to deep fried instead. The lightly battered fish was very crispy yet, tender and juicy inside. The lemon juice and tartar sauce complemented well with the fish fillet. The sauteed potatoes were perfectly done either, with some chopped hard-boiled egg, an additional flavor was added to the potatoes, and I must admit that they are indeed, a very good combination.

Chicken Schnitzel With Vegetables (Rm16.80). As you can see, the portion of this dish was very huge either, the juicy and tender texture of the chicken have just met my tick of approval. Some garlic butter was given but I do not think that the chicken makes a good combination with the garlic butter. It would be better if they could have made some garlic breads with the garlic butter. The fresh greens and the sauteed potatoes were exactly the same as the Pan Fried Fish set. Recommended this to set to chicken-meat lovers.

Apple crumbles with Vanilla Ice Cream (Rm3.80). The vanilla ice cream was supposed to complement with the apple crumbles but the ice cream was too sweet in my opinion, it will makes the whole dessert too sweet, moreover, the ice cream was in half-melt condition the time it was served. The apple crumbles suits my taste buds perfectly, the apple brings a bit sourness and complements well with the cake. A perfect dessert just to end a perfect meal.
