Located on Jalan Hutton in a beautifully restored heritage lot, Moo Point Steaks brings a modern, no-fuss steakhouse concept to Penang. Run by a couple returning from overseas, the menu is refreshingly straightforward: a variety of steaks—such as Angus ribeye and Wagyu sirloin—paired with their house-made sauces and thoughtfully crafted sides. The ambiance strikes a perfect balance between lively and comfortable, with a communal dining table seating up to 10 people and a cozy upper floor for a more intimate steak experience. It’s a solid spot for relaxed, honest-to-goodness steak, without any pretense.

There are plenty of options for side dishes here in Moo Point Steaks, with all of them served in sharing portion. So you and your dining partners get to try a bit of all choices. The menu is really straight-forward, simply choose your cut or choice of mains and the sides as well as sauces. The basic MP Steak features leaner cuts (like Flank) but the steak will be sous-vided for better texture. Do not be afraid that you will get something overly rough and tough. The only part missing could be the beefy flavor (due to absence of fats). The better ones are of course the Angus Ribeye and Wagyu Sirloin with the latter one offers better bite and higher fat content... for that forever-amazing beefy flavor. Steaks are expertly grilled here and lightly seasoned so diners have the flexibility to choose their preferred sauces. We had 3 types of sauces on our visit- Horseradish Cream, Cafe de Paris Butter and MP Steak Sauce (with a hint of Kimchi juice). Our favorite goes to the Horseradish Cream with a touch of Wasabi flavor.
The side dishes are not forsaken- on top of the timeless Steak-Frites combo, Moo Point Steaks has upped the game by offering more side dishes with some are even unique to themselves! Brilliantly created by the Chef, the sides are equally as exciting as their steaks. We did not manage to try everything on the list but out of the 3 sides we had, we enjoyed their addictively crisp Okra Tempura with Basil and Miso the most. The Chicory with Nashi Pear and Blue Cheese was an eye-opener as well. Not a common vegetable, Chicory carries a sleek bitter-end (to balance it off). The Pear offers a sweet juicy crunch while the Blue Cheese has the pungent creaminess to it. Albeit not for everyone, the sweet Blue Cheese combo never fails.
