Looking to enjoy your morning Dim Sum with a sea view? Zai Seng Dim Sum 再生点心 at Pantai Bersih is probably an option that you would like to explore. Opened in mid 2024, the place is within a short drive from Raja Uda, Butterworth. The Dim Sum restaurant is spacious with plenty of tables and seats. The best time to visit is early in the morning for the cool sea breeze, it gets warmer in the day. In terms of food offerings- the variety is not as extensive as that of some established Dim Sum restaurants in town... though they do serve a few stir fried noodle options. This is a place more for its ambiance than for an outstanding culinary experience- but if you’re planning to visit, their stir-fried noodles are worth a try.
Save for the Fried Taro Dumplings (which was standard-okay), we did not like ANY of their Dim Sum dishes. Among the worst- the Fried Fish Cake with its unbelievably mushy-soft texture. We were expecting something springy like any Fish Cake or Fish Paste but no, overly soft like Lekor. The Har Kaw was very disappointing either- we did not get the full Shrimp but just bits of it with super thick dumpling skin. The same for the HK-style Chee Cheong Fun with its tooth-aching soy sauce. Also, none of the Dim Sum dishes were served piping hot, probably just warmer than room temperature. The only food item that we could nod our head was the Hainanese Stir Fried Noodles. The dish was nicely seasoned and the texture of the noodles was expertly cooked. It went well with the Sambal Belacan and surprisingly affordable at Rm 7 for small portion. Maybe a good idea to go for their noodles instead of betting on their Dim Sum dishes.
