Safa Matcha is one of the latest additions to Vervea at Batu Kawan and a place not to be missed by Japanese Matcha lovers. Matcha is directly imported from Kyoto and the cafe churns out not only Matcha-focused desserts but a handful of Japanese-inspired main dishes as well.... at unbeatable prices. Imagine a serving of Tendon at RM13.90 and a Matcha-misu (Matcha-infused Tiramisu) at RM9. They have a range of good Matcha drinks for Matcha lovers to explore too. Though the options are limited, this place is highly recommended for Matcha lovers.
Start with the mains- the Oyakodon felt slightly under-seasoned, though they seemed to be very generous with the rice portion. Other than that, it was pretty decent considering the price. The Tendon scored better in our opinion, extra points for the variety. Other than the deshelled Prawns, there were sliced Yam, Sweet Potato, Pumpkin, Enoki Mushroom, Eryngii Mushroom, Shitake Mushroom, Long Beans and Okra. A pity that they did not serve the sweet Tendon sauce but only Japanese Shoyu. Not complaining for that price though.
For desserts- we were blown away by the Matcha-misu. The cream was expertly crafted- silky smooth and carried a bold milky essence. The Matcha flavor was bold but not overwhelming, there were some good bites at the bottom too, for the extra texture. Nothing overly exciting for the Swiss Roll though.
Taste: 7.5/10 (1-3 bad, 4-7 average, 8-10 good)
