A new alternative for our Muslim friends to try authentic China Chinese food with the opening of China Muslim Mee Tarik Tangan 中国穆斯林兰州拉面 at Prangin Mall Penang. The restaurant is manned by a Chinese-Muslim couple from China, specializes in churning out hand-pulled Lan Zhou Lamian Noodles. The menu features an array of noodle options, as well as some Chinese stir-fry dishes and delicacies like Dumplings. Those with a big appetite would be glad to know that diners can request for extra portion of noodles for free (there is an option to upgrade the portion in the order system). Reasonable prices and decent quality of food, worth checking out if you are a fan of Beef Lamian.
Signature Beef Lamian (Rm 15.90)
Lamian with minced Beef (Rm 15.90)
Chicken Dumplings (Rm 12)
Scallion Pancake (Rm 6)
We started with the boiled Chicken Dumplings and thought they were decent. The filling was reasonably seasoned while the Dumpling skin was expertly executed- not too thick or too weak to hold off the filling. We did not have high expectations on the Scallion Pancake but it turned out to be very good. It has a bit of crispiness at the edges with an alluring aroma, almost similar to Roti Canai but thicker. To our surprise, it was not as greasy at all. On the mains, the signature Beef Lamian was pretty good. The broth was light, clean and easy on the palate. They served it with a dash of Chili oil, which spiced up the broth a little. Noodle-wise, the texture was not as springy as we would have hoped. Can't complain for the portion though. The dry version- with minced Beef paled when in comparison with the signature soup version. The seasoning was weak and the minced Beef had not done much in its aid, we had to put in extra Chili flakes to spice things up.
