Haven 埔 @ Greenhall, Georgetown, Penang.

At the far end of Greenhall (opposite SEGI College Penang) where Just Caffe was located.... welcomes a new venture- Haven 埔. The new kid on the block offers traditional local food with a modern twist. The cafe does not carry a big menu but more than good enough to create excitement; expect to see playful dishes like Nasi Lemak Rice Bowl, Sambal Salad Bowl, Purple Potato/Green Tea Kaya Toast etc. Reasonable price points, comfortable dining atmosphere and fast serving speed; perfect for a quick, casual fix.

The best seller- Nasi Lemak Bowl was amazing... we love the extra crunch and bite introduced to the dish. Apart from the usual Peanut/ Fried Anchovies and Sambal combo; Lettuce, Cucumber, Shallots and Pumpkin Seeds were added. More like a healthier version of Nasi Lemak but the taste did not get shabbier. The Malaysian in me would prefer the Sambal to be spicier though, the sweet factor here overwhelmed the heat factor. When we thought we found the Singaporean version of Bak Chor Mee here but we ended up being disappointed. Linguine was used, the texture was very different. But on its own, it was alright... we definitely prefer the Nasi Lemak Rice Bowl over this. Another winner was the Purple Potato Kaya Toast; the Kaya was beautifully curated with a mild but discernible Purple Potato flavor while the Toast was nicely done with crispy edges.
