ML Tea Garden @ Gurney Walk, Gurney Drive, Penang.

A new venture by the Fat Mona Lisa group- ML Tea Garden focuses on serving light bites like Dim Sum or pastries in the brand new commercial building- Gurney Walk. ML Tea Garden does not occupy a shop but instead, it takes up a small space on the second floor of Gurney Walk... accommodating limited tables. Menu-wise, it has a small pork-free Dim Sum menu with some Pau, Noodle options; pastries and cakes are also available at the display counter. Not a place for absolute taste but a comfortable spot for brief catch up over quality Tea and inexpensive small bites.

Deep Fried Prawn Rolls (Rm 6.80)

Prawn Dumplings (Rm 6.80)

Steamed Fish Balls (Rm 5.80)

Lo Mai Kai/ Glutinous Rice with Chicken (Rm 7.80)

Egg Tarts (Rm 6.80)

Original Scone (Rm 2.50)

Cranberry Scone (Rm 2.50)

Jasmine Tea (Rm 12)

The Deep Fried Prawn Rolls and Lo Mai Kai were alright... they were fresh and nicely done. The Steamed Fish Balls were quite unique, the texture was on the softer side but we could taste the fish-flavor within. The Prawn Dumplings were nothing out of the ordinary but at least the texture was okay. The Egg Tarts and Scones on the other hand, were disappointing. The former one had an odd texture, the pastry skin was dry and the inner filling was less-satisfying. Like-wise, the Scones were dry and lacked of the much desired buttery fragrance. There were some hit and misses around but the place is not too shabby for a quick catch up over light bites.
