Bodhi Tree Vegetarian @ Vantage Desiran Tanjung, Tanjung Tokong, Penang.

New choice for those who practice plant-based diet at Tanjung Tokong, Bodhi Tree Vegetarian is one of the latest additions to the vegetarian scene at the area. Found on first floor of Vantage Desiran Tanjung, Bodhi Tree offers a vegetarian menu with Chinese and Western options as well as some Japanese-inspired Bento sets. Choices can be overwhelming but fortunately, the food items are reasonably priced. Bodhi Tree Vegetarian just opened its doors to the public in early April 2022.

Sesame Cold Ramen (Rm 15)

Shitake Char Siew Noodles (Rm 13.90)

Scrambled Egg Ham Sandwich (Rm 14)

Both noodle dishes were okay, the Char Siew Noodles had a great texture and the Char Siew turned out to be on the sweeter side... with a texture just like any Vegetarian Char Siew. Sesame Cold Ramen on the other hand, was more refreshing. The sauce was something similar to the salad dressing- Japanese Goma sauce... served with julienned Cucumber and Carrots. The flavor combo was pretty straight forward but we would prefer the Carrots to be slightly cooked. They were overly crunchy and hard in texture. Portion seems to be on the smaller side as well. We also had a side of Scrambled Egg Ham Sandwich... which turned out to be quite a disappointment. We did not like the fact that they were using the usual commercial bread, the texture was mushy after Mayonnaise and greens were added. The fillings were nothing out of the ordinary... just vegetarian Ham, Hash Brown, Cheese and Scrambled Egg.
