Sieng Kee Restaurant 翔记饭店 can be found a little deep inside of Simpang Ampat, slightly off the beaten track (of the main streets in Simpang Ampat). The restaurant has been there for a while and is one of the favorite go-to-places for those staying in the neighborhood. Most regulars walk in just to order some simple stir fries for takeaways. But Sieng Kee offers way more than the usual Chinese stir fries, it is also a Seafood restaurant; the menu features a big range of Seafood dishes with the most popular ones being the Crabs. There are 2 parts to the restaurant- diners can opt for the outdoor seating or the indoor air-conditioned space; tables on both sides are spaciously arranged. As for the price tags, food items are reasonably priced... pretty decent for a Seafood place in Penang state.

Sieng Kee Restaurant 翔记饭店 @ Simpang Ampat, Penang.
Stir Fried Vermicelli Noodles with Mud Crab (Rm 93/ 1 kg Mud Crab for Rm 100)
Steamed Flower Clams with Squid in Thai Sauce (Rm 25)
Steamed Chicken with Chinese Herbs (Rm 20/ half bird)
Stir Fried Water Spinach with Sambal (Rm 7)
The Stir Fried Vermicelli Noodles with Mud Crab is Sieng Kee's signature dish... there was an option to choose between Roe Crabs or Meat Crabs, we had the latter one. The Crabs were fresh and beautifully cooked but probably baking them was a better idea. The whole dish was a little greasier than expected... making it harder to hammer the crabs. The Steamed Flower Clams with Squid in Thai Sauce was good, the sauce was nicely concocted... spicy, sour with a handful of chopped Garlic, worked well with the fresh Flower Clams and Squid. Like-wise, the Steamed Chicken with Chinese Herbs was not shabby either. The soup packed a powerful Chinese herbaceous punch and was reasonably seasoned... the Chicken was braised till fork tender... affordably priced at Rm 20.
