Miodis Cafe @ Abu Siti Lane, Georgetown, Penang.

Both a florist and a cafe, Miodis Cafe boasts over its floral-homey interior decor... step in the place and you will be welcomed with a colorful, bright entrance with a whiff of floral scents. The ordering counter is right next to the florist, a corner dedicated to selling bouquets of fresh flowers. Seats are arranged in a comfortable spacing, allowing good privacy next to each other... there are also a couple of couches for those who prefer a more relaxed seating arrangement. On the menu, the cafe offers Western choices along with a couple of Chinese noodle options (though not available on our visit). Not exactly a big menu and the dishes do not come cheap but the quality for the mains are not too shabby (not for the case of their Waffles). Miodis Cafe can be found along Abu Siti Lane, facing 7 Village Noodle House.

Miodis' Egg Ben Bubble Style with Salmon Grazlax was delicious- the Egg was perfectly poached with golden-flowing Yolk and served with creamy Hollandaise sauce. It felt light and not overly seasoned- even the smoked Salmon carried the right salinity. We also liked the fact that the smoked Salmon did not overkill the dish, just the right amount to complement the dish by offering a sleek smokiness. The amount of Hollandaise sauce was spot on either. Equally good was the Sunrise Aglio Olio... carefully cooked Linguine topped with a poached Egg. The dish comes with a powerful flavor- earthy (from the Eryngii Mushrooms) and a discernible chili kick. But the concoction is well-suited for Malaysian taste buds- spicy, creamy (from Yolk and Cheese Powder), savory and al-dente noodles. The meal ender- Sakura Crush, Waffle served with fresh fruits and topped with Matcha Ice Cream was a disappointment. The Waffle was too soft in texture and the fruits were too random (weird combination of having Banana in it). The Matcha Ice Cream was disappointingly average... and where's my Sakura?
