Biscotti Cafe @ Beach Street, Georgetown, Penang.

Biscotti Cafe is one of the hippest cafes in Penang that took social media by storm, this new kid on the block caught the attention of many due to its creatively crafted Cheese and Mouse cake. It was very popular during the Chinese Lunar New Year period (beginning of Year of Rat). We did pay a visit to the cafe but it was fully occupied and we could not secure a seat. We tried our luck again recently and managed to squeeze in. The crowd was there but not as overwhelming as before. While Biscotti Cafe is known for its visually-appealing cakes, the cafe actually serves a main menu as well... though the price points are above average.

Baby Mouse Chocolate Cheese Cake (Rm 23)

Watermelon Cake (Rm 20)

Butter Bunny Private Party (Rm 28)

Butter Bunny Private Party was our only savory pick but the combination was not common- Vietnamese Banh Mi with Western Fries and Thai Mango Salad. While we did enjoy the crusty-soft Baguette, we thought the filling was weak- merely Chicken Ham, Bacon and some of the Thai Mango Salad as well as Cucumber/ Tomato. The Fries and Thai Mango Salad were okay though... both possessed the quintessential flavors, just that these few elements did not seem to jive well together. For sweets, we had both Baby Mouse Chocolate Cheese Cake and Watermelon Cake. The former one was a savory-sweet Cheese Cake topped with Chocolate Mousse. The savory cheese element was however, too bold to our liking... as though we were having real cheese in lieu of sweet Cheese cake; the Chocolate Mousse was meh... for Rm 23, we thought it was a rip off. The Watermelon Cake on the other hand, was okay. The cream was nicely done to complement with the Watermelon, just that for Rm 20... we thought it was overpriced. All in all, the food was decent but the price points did not seem to justify the food portion or quality.
