Serving Hotpot in the evenings, Chuan Yee also serves Dim Sum and Chicken Rice during the daytime... but not exactly at the hotpot restaurant though just a couple shops away. They have started to offer Dim Sum and Chicken Rice almost a year back; many regular patrons are returning due to the consistent quality and reasonable price range. The Dim Sum menu is small but all dishes are freshly made to order, having said that, expect a longer wait than usual Dim Sum joints. The place is most crowded during lunch hours (early lunch) and food items tend to be sold out after 1 pm so if are keen to try more variety, do plan your visit accordingly.

Braised Egg (Rm 1.20 each)
One of the signature Dim Sum dishes- Shrimp Dumplings... huge and plump Dumplings served with Sze Chuan-inspired, chili-garlic concoction. The Dumplings were meaty and the filling was generous but what made it unique was the sauce. The flavor-combo was amazing and definitely an appetite-whetter. Another popular Dim Sum dish- Fried Shrimp Rolls.... crispy rolls filled with Shrimp paste, was addictive as well. It can either go with Mayonnaise or the sweet Chili sauce. While the Century Egg Pork Porridge comes in a huge serving portion, we did not find it exceptional, except that it was served to us piping hot. We waited quite a while before the Chicken was served. The Chicken was deboned and served with light soy sauce and some julienned Spring Onions and Coriander. The Chicken meat was as tender as expected.... the type of silky smooth deboned Chicken that you can find in some well-established Chicken rice places. Surprisingly, Chuan Yee did it very well. We were quite happy with our orders but the long-serving time was an excruciating pain.
