A sweet addition to Icon City is Sweetful Desserts 食糊 by MMI, the place has been vying for attention over social media due to its colorfully attractive Hong Kong-styled interior decor. The menu offers similar theme... Hong Kong-styled dishes and sweet treats. Though more like a place for desserts, Sweetful Desserts also offers a main menu... some Hong Kong-influenced noodle and rice dishes as well as an array of Hong Kong street food and snacks. Prices are of standard-average but we reckon the place is more suitable for after-meal desserts than absolute meal.
Avocado with Chilled Black Glutinous Rice (Rm 12)
Black Sesame Soup (Rm 7)
Curry Fish Balls (Rm 6.50)
Portuguese Egg Tart (Rm 3.50 each)
Light nibbles like Curry Fish Balls and Portuguese Egg Tarts seem to be every table's favorites. The Curry Fish Balls were alright... the flavor was discernible and the Fish Balls were bouncily firm. The Portuguese Egg Tart on the other hand, was a little less exciting... the pastry skin was not as flaky and crispy as we would have hoped. The eggy aroma was less-intense either. For desserts, we had both hot and cold treats. The hot Black Sesame Soup was okay but we would prefer it to be thicker and richer in flavor... the texture felt a little too watery to our liking. For the Avocado with Chilled Black Glutinous Rice, we love the creamy, smooth texture of the Avocado blend but the addition of Palm Sugar overpowered the Avocado flavor. It felt a little odd to have Palm Sugar in Avocado. The Black Glutinous Rice had not done much in its aid except providing the dessert a nutty texture. Not too shabby but we would vote for condensed milk over Palm Sugar in this case. The flavor combo of Palm Sugar and Avocado just did not seem right.
