Young parents would be glad to know that there's a newly opened kid-friendly cafe at Arena Curve... the commercial shop lots right next to Olive Tree Hotel at Bayan Baru. It's hard to miss Big Tree Eatery... it has a huge signage printed at the facade. The interior decor is simple but brilliantly spaced... on the right, there's a corner dedicated for kids... well-equipped with toys that could keep the children busy. On the food offering, Big Tree Eatery has a mixed menu consists of both Western options and Chinese dishes. Prices are on the higher side... not exactly the place for a meal but more like a venue for your children to play while having some food.
Seafood Hor Fun (Rm 18.90)
Pan Seared Fish with Miso Sauce (Rm 24.90)
Tree Lover Waffle (Rm 22.90)
The Seafood Hor Fun was disappointingly average... while the serving portion was hearty, the flavor did not shine. We thought the noodles were slightly on the salty side though we must agree that the consistency of the gravy was pretty good. I see no reason for paying Rm 18.90 for a plate of Char Hor Fun except for 3 big prawns. Up next our Western option- Pan Seared Fish with Miso Sauce... we did not like the thinly sliced Fish for the unsatisfying bite but oddly, we did think the Miso Sauce was nicely concocted. The Miso flavor was bold and could blend well with the sides (of mashed and greens). As for the sweet treat, the Waffle was freshly made on the spot and we were amazed by the surprisingly airy-crispy texture. The Maple Syrup was delicious but the Mango Sorbet could be better... it lacked the refreshing acidity and the flavor was a little too artificial. No idea why the Mochies were there though.
