HK Boy Cart Noodles (香港仔车仔面) @ The One, Bayan Lepas, Penang.

Malaysians have certainly professed their love for Hong Kie food, ever since HK Boy Cart Noodles (香港仔车仔面) first opening in central, the response has been more than positive. Fortunately, Penang is included in their recent expansion plan and their first branch in Penang is located at The One Mahsuri, Bayan Lepas. Over the opening weekend, the place was thronged with curious foodies, waiting eagerly in queue to taste the Hong Kong delights. As suggested by the name, the brand's signature dish is Cart Noodles... a popular Hong Kong street food that allows diners to customize and build its own bowl of noodles... with a variety of toppings and ingredients. To suit the theme, the restaurant's interior is designed accordingly... with bold Hong Kong characteristics. Aside from the signature Cart Noodles, the restaurant churns out many popular Hong Kong snacks as well.

My first encounter with this brand was in Pavilion, it did not leave me a very positive experience that time, I thought the broth was a little too bland to my liking. But this time, one of the servers advised us to go for a mixture of all soup and true enough, the flavor combo worked. It carried a subtle meatiness with a sleek sweetness. The touch of Beef broth was the soul of the dish (sorry to those who don't eat Beef, you don't know what you are missing); it was then round up with a dash of Chili paste. Depending on your choice of noodles, we had Wan Ton Mee which we thought it was more superior than other choices (some of our friends had Hor Fun and Doggie Noodles). Skip all those side dishes and snacks though, none of them left us with very good impression... below par type of quality.
