The Nook- Books and Coffee @ Khoo Cheow Teong Court, Georgetown, Penang.

The word 'nook' is indicative of an inward-looking space but it is not wrong to name it that way. The concept is new here in Penang, though its pretty common in other parts of the world; The Nook is a bookstore cafe that offers a comfortably quiet space for book lovers and scholars. Step in the cafe and you will find yourself in a standard cafe setting, sans the usual buzz, tables/ chairs but instead, they are replaced with couch and mini coffee tables at the side. Explore further and you will need to pass through a tiny door, once you are in that corner, you will be greeted with walls of books and novels. It appeared to me that the books are pre-owned so they are in 'used' conditions; interested buyers may purchase the books at a fixed price. The cafe has got nothing much on offer, except some cakes, toasts and Croissants (available until noon only) but the snug-cozy little space is worth visiting especially if you are both a cafe hopper and a bookman.

Croissant + Organic Bangkok Tea with Pineapple Cinnamon and Papaya Nutmeg Jam (Rm 10)

Be there early, preferably before noon if you wish to enjoy their breakfast set... a choice between Sourdough Toast and Croissant; the former choice has an option to top up Soft Boiled Egg while the latter one is served with Jam. Obviously not made in-house but The Nook's Croissants were flaky with a bold buttery fragrance. It went perfectly well with the exoticly flavored Jam like Pineapple Cinnamon, Papaya Nutmeg, Ruby Grapefruit and Orange Marmalade etc. The set comes with a choice of Black Coffee or Tea (Premium Tea).
