Some respite from the caffeine scene, non-coffee drinkers in Penang now have a new place to get some refreshing, non-caffeinated drinks at Hakuna Matata, one of the latest cafes in town. "Hakuna Matata", literally means "worry-free", boasts a casual space that offers simple dessert menu with some playful Mocktails; though Coffees are available, choices are pretty limited. No mains on offer at present but the cafe occasionally collaborates with food trucks, on our visit, it was Camion but that entirely depends on your luck. The cozy, comfortable setting makes it a great spot to spend your leisure time with your companions. Do note that Hakuna Matata is located at the far end of Carnavon Street, near to Chulia Street, adjacent to Tek Sen Restaurant.
Cheese Cake (Rm 10)
Passion Fruit Jelly (Rm 5)
Mojito Matata Mocktail (Rm 15)
Hakuna Matata's Cheese Cake was a little gelatinous but the cheesy-element was not discounted. It was creamy and rich, just the way we like. The cookie base was a little too hard to our liking though. To beat the tropical heat, the Passion Fruit Jelly would be a nice choice. The natural acidic of Passion Fruit cuts through the sweetness, making it the perfect thirst quencher. To complete your afternoon, pair it with the zesty Mojito Matata Mocktail.
