Art Nature Cafe @ ICT Mall, KOMTAR, Georgetown, Penang.

More choices for meat-free eaters, Art Nature Cafe, a long established vegetarian cafe from Alor Setar (Kedah) has recently opened up a new branch here in Penang's ICT Mall, KOMTAR. It offers the same menu as the main branch, it has a variety of local vegetarian food with a creative twist. Notable highlights include Assam Lemak Laksa, Tofu with Cheese and Egg, Oyster Mushroom Porridge etc. Apart from being part of the meat-free community, the cafe occasionally hosts photography-related events. The cafe is located right next to the main KOMTAR bus terminal so it tends to be a little noisy but if you are someone who enjoys watching the busy scenes where bus riders hop on and off the buses, this is definitely the place you are looking for.

Tofu with Mushroom (Rm 8.90)

Tofu with Egg (Rm 7.90)

One of Art Nature's best sellers- the Assam Lemak Laksa was rather unique. It did not really taste like the real Assam Laksa but it was generally good. The jolting sourness and a strong spicy kick reminded us of Tom Yum. It was quite a refreshing dish but may be monotonous if entirely to be finished by one. For a change, you might want to try their Tofu series. We had the Tofu with Mushrooms and Tofu with Egg; the Tofu was topped with a sliver of melted Cheese and the condiments. Both were okay but we would personally prefer the former one (Mushrooms).

  1. I like the name of this place. I'd like to see a big more nature in their design though.

  2. Nice place. Last time I was in Penang, KOMTAR was like a haunted house. I really must make a trip to the island again...soon!

  3. Is the Asam Laksa comes with "fish"? What they substitute with?
