Bird's Nest... a prized Chinese delicacy that symbolizes wealth and social status, can now be enjoyed in the form of modern desserts in the newly opened Birds Nest Secret, Icon City. It is also believed to carry medicinal effects and does wonders to the skin... making it extremely popular amongst the ladies whom seek for flawless skin or to preserve their age. Birds Nest Secret is a cafe that specializes in offering bird's nest... more so in the form of sweet treats. Both the interior and exterior decor are swanky and modern, presented in shades of sparkling gold and a touch of wood; popular seats are often taken up during peak hours, if a table with picturesque background concerns you, do make your reservation early. The selection is wide but comes with hefty price tags. Given the taxing price rates, we are not too sure if this is a place that we'd like to make a visit... more for novelty experience.
Honeydew in Snowy Granita (Rm 31)
Afternoon Tea for two (Rm 88)
Some items were not available on our visit and we had to resort to the Honeydew in Snowy Granita- Honeydew flavored shaved ice served atop of digestive biscuits, a Honeydew Pudding and some fresh Honeydew... jeweled with some Birds Nest. I am sorry but what? Digestive Biscuits? We had no answer to that. The concoction was sweet with bold Honeydew flavor, a little too strong and we suspected its authenticity. It was overall, acceptable but we thought with the portion (especially the one-teaspoon birds nest), it was overpriced.
The real joke was the Afternoon Tea, there were 11 items in total- Mille Feuille tarts with Bird's Egg and Mushrooms, Tuna Canape, Fruit Salad, Choux pastry, Green Tea and Strawberry Cheese Cakes as well as Osmanthus Jelly with Bird's Nest. The only item with birds nest was the Osmanthus Jelly while other items are irrelevant to the theme. None of the items were impressive, in fact, they fared below our expectations. We were very disappointed, especially at the price of Rm 88++. All orders of Afternoon Tea comes with a jar of Tea (probably Harney & Sons).
