Jin Ding Restaurant (金鼎香港粥麺小厨) @ Burmah Road, Pulau Tikus, Penang.

The classic but sturdy combination of Roasted Meat with Egg Noodles would never go out of fashion. For a family with Cantonese-root, we do have a soft spot for these Cantonese delicacies. We did not hesitate to try them out- Jin Ding Restaurant at Burmah Road, an extended branch from HK Gourmet Kitchen at Bukit Jambul. The aforementioned restaurant specializes in serving Roasted goodies- Roasted Pork, Roasted Duck, Chicken and Barbecue Pork. Though the menu is predictable but the quality is above the average standard.

Set B- Triple Mixed Roasted Goodies (烧味三拼盘/ Rm 36.80)

Roasted Duck and Chicken Noodles (鸡鸭双拼面/ Rm 7.50)

We were deeply impressed by the quality of the offering, the Roasted Duck and Chicken were expertly cooked to the right texture- tender with succulent meat and served with a touch of their thick, savory Dark Soy Sauce. We paired the meat with their home-made Chili dip. Hardcore fans may argue that the Roasted Goodies were of average quality but many would agree that their Egg Noodles were a notch above the rest. The noodles were bouncy with slightly resilient in texture, perfectly complemented by the magical splash of thick Soy Sauce. No, the noodles were not ordinary Wan Ton Mee, they seemed to be lighter in color and sans the disfavor flavor of Lye Water. An order of the Set consists of a platter of Roasted Goodies, serving of Noodles or Rice, Dumpling Soup/ Wan Ton Soup, Blanched Vegetables or Steamed Tofu.

Dumpling Soup (水饺汤)

Blanched Vegetables with Oyster Sauce (蚝油时菜)

Beverage that comes along with the Set- Sea Coconut & Sugar Cane Stew (竹蔗海底椰) and Pear & White Fungus Stew (雪梨炖雪耳)
