Handy Spoon @ Weld Quay, Georgetown, Penang.

Breakfast is believed to be the most important meal of the day; a healthy yet hearty portion of breakfast would be great to fuel energy for the day. A sister restaurant of The Leaf Healthy House, Handy Spoon focuses on serving healthy breakfast items to promote healthy-balanced diet, based on the concept of "The Eat Well Guide" where all carbohydrates, protein, fiber and nutrients are carefully calculated. Handy Spoon uses take-away concept- foods are presented in take-away boxes but for those who prefer to dine in, there are a few tables and chairs too. The location's obscure and concealed for the uninitiated. At Victoria Street (where the main Post Office is located), turn into the small alley facing the Post Office and you will find Handy Spoon shortly on your left.

Chicken Dumpling Noodle (Rm 10.90/ Premium Set)

Handy Wrap (Rm 9.90/ Premium Set)

Handy Pancake (Rm 8.90/ Premium Set)

The menu is small, probably 5 items in total. Ala-Carte orders are available while "Set" comes with a glass of Soya Milk and "Premium Set" comes with a small serving of Fruit Yogurt and Soya Milk (or Coffee). Their Handy Wrap left us with the deepest impression- fresh Shitake Mushroom, Chicken Meat, fresh Lettuce, Tomato and Capsicum carefully wrapped using Tortilla. The bite was satisfying and the earthy flavor (from the Shitake) stood out while the juicy crunch complemented the Chicken Meat well.

If you'd prefer something soupish to warm your day, Chicken Dumpling Noodles may be your dish. The broth was clear and brimming with vegetable-sweetness. The Corn-flavor was especially bold and the soup was lightly-seasoned. Handy Spoon uses Spaghetti in lieu of Yellow Noodles/ Vermicelli Noodles... cooked to slightly soft (but not slouchy). The Dumplings were decent but some of us found them a tad too salty to our liking. Handy Pancake on the other hand, was probably the weakest dish amongst all we had that day. The Pancake was dry and the Chocolate Sauce did not manage to enhance the taste. We struggled to finish the dish.
