Loo Beef Noodles @ Carnavon Street, Georgetown, Penang.

While Beef might not be the favorite of many (especially in Penang due to religious reason), there are still bunch of faithful patrons returning for their favorite delicacy. It is a fact that Penang is full of delicious food to eat but Beef Noodles have never crossed the mind of a tourist. Amongst the handful of well-received Beef Noodles in town, Loo Beef Noodles which was previously at Chulia Street, has relocated to a new shop at Carnavon Street; a shop entirely devoted to selling Beef Noodles and Fried Oyster Omelette. The place does not come with sophisticated setting... more like a usual hawker place with tight setting. It can be warm in the afternoon... with the absence of air-conditioners but the hearty bowl of Beef Noodle is worth the trip.

Beef Noodles (Soup Version/ Rm 7.50)

The family-run business has a reputation as one of the city's best places for Beef Noodles, first timers might want to go for the basic- Beef Soup Noodles; subtle broth with rich Beefy flavor served with abundance of Beef wholesomeness. We are not fans of Innards but we were satisfied with the Beef Balls and Meat. We like the doneness of the meat, not too raw nor overdone; just right on the dot. Do not look down on the touch of Pork Lards, they enhanced instead of overshadowing the meaty broth, introducing another layer of fragrant dimension to the sweet Beef stock; best to go with their home-made sweet and tangy Chili dip. Comforting enough but our favorite goes to Kam Kee at Batu Lanchang.

Stubborn fans of Oh Chien will probably shy away from this stall. Standard-ordinary Oh Chien/ Fried Oyster Omelette (Rm 7) does not come with crispy edges but with more gooey and chewy Starch whereas this particular stall of Oh Chien serves theirs with an attitude. Inevitably greasy but they scored well in the crispiness of the edges... they can be addictive and more delectable with an addition of the pulpy, succulent Oysters. If one thing we'd like to comment on... it would be the size of the Oysters, which we thought could be larger in size.
