Mish Mash @ Muntri Street, Georgetown, Penang.

Mish Mash is long-established and well-known as a place for alcohol, Mish Mash should not be new for drinkers. Many have changed since their fawned opening, Mish Mash did not offer any main in their first few opening months but they gradually came out with more and more items. The low-lit space has comfortable seating, with smoking area and non-smoking area clearly separated. It specializes in serving classic Cocktails but it does serve some groovy-tricksy booze as well. Ask the knowledgeable staff and they are more than glad to comply. There is also a list of noteworthy, diverse menu which seeks to tempt your palate; one of the perfect places for your intimate date or boozy treat.

Grilled Scallop Pasta

A set dinner with great value- diners get to choose a main to go with their house Salad for only Rm 20; optionally, top up Rm 18 for a glass of White or Red. We had Zucchini Mushroom Pasta as main, the Spaghetti was cooked to the right al-dente texture and moderately seasoned. Zucchini was crunchy but we thought the pieces were too small and rather inconvenient for us to scoop it up; we'd prefer slicing the Zucchini instead of cubing it. The toasted Pine Nuts provide a nice and nutty twist to the dish but we thought the dish was overall, standard-average. Additionally, we thought the dish can be less-greasy too. The Salad was nothing out of the ordinary either, frozen Scallops were lightly seared and served with greens. We like the dressing though- zingy and refreshing, most appropriate to be served as starter. The Dinner menu is only available on every Tuesday to Friday, from 5 pm to 9 pm.

Tricked by the name- Saigon Spring Rolls (Rm 17), I thought that would be the usual version with fresh vegetables wrapped with Rice paper but it turned out to be the Deep Fried version. The Chicken-meat filling was firm and meaty while the outside was well-coated with a shattering crisp layer of Rice flour; served on top of a smear of spiced Mayonnaise. It was a nice snack to go with alcohol but might be overly greasy to my liking. Also, I thought the price was somewhat hefty for that portion.
