The place has a cozy setting, portraying as an upscale place that serves Assam Laksa; might chase away those with budget constraints but rest-assured, prices are very reasonable in the context of Penang. The menu is somewhat insubstantial but the management is rolling out new items real soon. Laksalicious can be found at Hutton Lane, a stone's throw distance away Sunflower Cake House and Hutton Mansion Wine Haus.
Laksalicious' signature Assam Laksa (Rm 6.50/ promotional price) will thrill those with stubborn local palate. It comes with a piece of Prawn Cracker, generous amount of julienned Lettuce, Mint Leaves, Onions, Pineapples and Cucumbers... not forgetting the quintessential Torch Ginger. The broth has a balanced medley of sour, spicy, savory notes; add in squiggles of Shrimp Paste for the extra hint of seafood sweetness. No lackluster in their noodles, Laksalicious' were cooked till perfection- slightly bouncy and not slouchy at all. Dangerously delicious... I actually feel an overwhelming urge to indulge again.
Nyonya Lemak Laksa (Rm 7.90/ promotional price) is only available on weekends. It paled in comparison with their signature Assam Laksa. The broth was thick and rich but not as creamy as I would have hoped. It was veering towards the salty side; the Vermicelli noodles, on the other hand, were nicely cooked to the right texture. Not too shabby but the signature Assam Laksa outshined this version.
To share, order their Curry Chicken Pie (Rm 7.90); unique concoction of Curry Chicken, Potatoes and Egg encased in a buttery-flaky pastry skin. The pastry skin was at its right thickness, beautifully complementing the savory-spicy filling.
