Sandwiches will never go out of fashion, evidently seen from the myriad of sandwich specialist in town. One of the biggest contenders in the "industry" has invaded Penang lately, opening its first branch of the brand at the new commercial building- Summerton. The name- Quiznos Sub, one of the world's leading Sandwich specialists, is synonymous with exceptional quality and consistently good sandwiches as well as pizzas. The chain Sandwich specialist has a standardized menu nationwide but the brand is especially well known for its sandwiches. The sandwich joint operates in a "fast-food" strategy- orders will be served in a jiffy; while we were certainly impressed with the outstanding quality of the sandwiches, we thought the prices are on the higher side; not a casual sandwich that we can afford to eat in a regular basis.
We were deeply amazed by Baja Chicken (Rm 14.90/ Regular) sandwiched in their signature home-made Rosemary Parmesan Bread. The Chicken slices were tender and succulent, further enhanced with the sweet and savory combination (Cheese and Barbecue Sauce). Do not look down on the fresh Parsley/ Coriander, the Herb pushes the sandwich to another level by introducing a delightful vegetal-herbaceous aroma. Quiznos' Rosemary Parmesan Bread was no lackluster either, akin to Vietnamese Banh Mi, the bread was crusty and crispy on the outside but surprisingly fluffy-soft on the inside. Everything seems to be carefully curated.
Another proud creation of Quiznos- Zesty Steak Pizza (Rm 14.90/ Regular). Thin, crispy crust generously spread with sweet Honey Mustard and topped with Beef slices as well as melted Cheese. The overall flavor was good, the texture was great either but we did not find it mind-blowingly good; probably I am not a huge fan of the sweet combination with Pizza and Beef. Rm 14.90 for four measly pieces, not worth the value.
