Penang Curry Mee @ Lorong Seratus Tahun, Georgetown, Penang.

I've always wanted to visit this place where many raved about. Its hidden location makes the place a little inconspicuous, regular patrons who are able to make their way here are generally those in the know. Situated at Lorong Seratus Tahun, junction to Nanning Road, this Curry Mee stall housed under Khuan Pin Cafe has been in business for many years and has gathered many regulars since then. There are only two types of food available here- Curry Mee or Shrimp Crackers (Fried Fritters)/ Loh Bak. Prices are on the higher side but the quality pales when in comparison to others; definitely not the best in town.

I had my Curry Mee added with Prawns (Rm 7.50 per bowl, usual ones cost Rm 4 for small and Rm 4.60 for large) but without Coagulated Pig's Blood and Cockles. The broth came in smooth but slightly mild in flavors, particularly lacking of the seafood-sweetness I reckon. The real draw of the dish has got to be their home-made Chili Paste which gives the dish a boost, although not lip-numbing hot but it adds a comforting touch to the noodles. I thought the portion could be bigger with the price too, I am not too sure if I will come back for this but I guess it shall remain as an occasional indulgence for now.

Well at least they are generous in allowing diners to scoop in their home-made Chili Paste themselves... as much as they like.
