Lunarich Pasta & Pizza @ One Precinct, Bayan Baru, Penang.

One Precinct is a newly set up commercial hub nearby Sunshine Square and D’ Piazza at Bayan Baru, Penang. Quite an amount of restaurants are mushrooming at this place, Lunarich, Gold Choice, Farmers Cottage, I Mum Mum just to name a few. I have certainly heard of Lunarich since its opening at Gurney Paragon Mall but I was being skeptical in trying this place out considering the prices are not too wallet-friendly, however, I was rather attracted by their Set Lunch promotions (only available on Monday to Friday, 12pm to 3pm) instead. From Rm 18.90+ onwards, diners will be served with Salad, Garlic Bread, Soup of the day, a drink (Tea/ Coffee/ Carbonated Drinks) and a main course. Service was attentive and the place has a very good ambiance. There’s also an al-fresco dining area if that’s what you preferred. You may find ample of parking spaces inside the building too (Rm 1 for first hour). In a nutshell, I would say that the lunch promotion worth every penny spent, do check it out if you are craving for a wallet-friendly Italian lunch.

We kick started our meal with some fresh green salad; well-tossed with Mayonnaise dressing, the salad was very appetizing and refreshing enough to my liking. The greens were really fresh and everything seemed so well-blended together.

Up next was their Soup of the day and Garlic Bread. The Garlic Bread was good, crunchy crust with fluffy, well-flavored crumb (inner part of the bread). Extra marks will be given if they could have slightly added more Garlic to the bread for the extra Garlicky flavor. The Mushroom Soup (Soup of the day), on the other hand, was not too impressive in my opinion. It was creamy but sadly, no mushrooms were found. It lacked of some flavors from the mushrooms.

Spaghetti Aglio e Olio Pepperoncino (Rm 18.90+) comes with some Olives. The Spaghetti was cooked perfectly to my liking- al dente. The best part was the dish was not too oily and reasonably flavored. However, it was a regret that there were not much ingredients added to go with the pasta, it would be better if they could add some seafood onto the pasta. I would also prefer them to have more Garlic instead for a more intense Garlicky flavor. It was rather interesting to find out that they actually deep fried the sliced Garlic instead of adding the raw Garlic into the pasta and of course, I would personally prefer the latter one. I am not sure whether one can request for a spicier version but I would definitely ask for one during my next visit.

Linguine alle Vongole (Rm 23.90+) was heavenly. The sleek and cooked al-dente Linguine with a hint of sweetness was perfect. I also like the fact that they have used some fresh herbs (like Parsley) instead of the dried ones. Sadly, the clams were not too fresh and were too small in size. Ultimately, it lacked of some bite. I would also prefer if they can add some fresh Chilies and more White Wine for the subtle sweetness and flavors.  Overall, I would say this was actually a very good Vongole.
