Little June 小六月 @ Raja Uda, Butterworth, Penang.

Little June 小六月 has been around for quite some time and the location is pretty hidden. For those who are not so familiar with Raja Uda area, this Japanese restaurant can be found on the upper floor of one of the retail commercial outlets near to the junction of Permatang Pauh and Raja Uda. It's easy to miss this place due to the plain-looking signage. The restaurant serves a Japanese menu, featuring many Japanese delights. Once you stepped in the place, you will be welcomed by an array of Sushi on display but of course, the menu has more than just Sushi to offer.

Salmon Sushi (Rm 3.60)/ Salmon Belly Sushi (Rm 4.60)/ Unagi Sushi (Rm 4)/ Tobiko (Rm 2.20)/ Kappa Maki (Rm 1.40) and Futo Maki (Rm 1.50)

Kinoko Udon (Rm 13.90)

Maze Soba (Rm 17.90)

Chicken Katsu Hirata Bun (Rm 5.90)

As far as freshness is concerned, Little June nailed it. We had a few types of their Sushi and found that the prices are generally on the higher side. The Sushi Rice was nicely seasoned with a hint of Vinegar but they could not really hold well and the Rice tends to break apart. Freshness was good though and the cuts were alright. On the noodles, the Kinoko Udon's texture was okay but the broth registered an indelible sweetness, probably a tad too sweet to our liking. Maze Soba was something different though- Ramen served with various of condiments and toppings, the flavor combo was complex but could really blend well. We were also told that we could add in Vinegar and White Rice towards the end for another type of flavor combo.
