Kohtenhep Cafe By Javu @ Macalister Road, Georgetown, Penang.

Fans of a popular restaurant- Javu can now enjoy their signature dishes right smack in town as the restaurant has just opened up a new branch at Macalister Road. Fans of Javu staying outside of the Tanjung Bungah area can finally have access to their signature dishes nearer to town. The new branch- Kohtenhep Cafe can be found at Macalister Road (previously occupied by Petit Cafe), a stone's throw distance away from YMCA on the same road. It is housed in a bungalow and should not be hard to spot thanks to its flashy orange exterior (in the form of container house).

Poke Bowl- Chicken Teriyaki with Mediterranean Rice and Lemon Aioli (Rm 22)

Smoked Chicken Aglio Olio (Rm 22)

Beef Salami Open Sandwich with Blue Cheese (Rm 21)

We started off by sharing something light- the Beef Salami Open Sandwich lightly spread with Blue Cheese and Pesto sauce was delicious. The Toast was expertly toasted with a crusty-crisp edges... spread with Pesto and Blue Cheese sauce and topped with loads of lightly dressed Salad as well as Beef Salami. We could tell the presence of Blue Cheese but it was pretty mild and not overly dominant. Everything was well-balanced and the combo was refreshing. For mains, we had our Aglio Olio topped with Smoked Chicken. Kohtenhep uses Angel Hair pasta so the texture is a little different than the usual Spaghetti variant. Our Aglio Olio was nicely done... al-dente with a burst of Garlicky aroma and best of all, not overly greasy. Our only complain- the serving portion was too small for us. We've previously had their Poke Bowl back in Javu so we were pretty convinced on the quality. As expected, the Chicken Teriyaki Poke Bowl was delicious. The concoction of Chicken Teriyaki, Edamame, Walnuts, Ebiko and some fresh greens. If we were to nitpick, it would be the texture of the Mediterranean Rice... probably a tad too wet to our liking (perhaps overdose of Aioli).
