Place We Meet 漫长的深夜 @ Chulia Street, Georgetown, Penang.

**This place has relocated to Lebuh Acheh and rebranded as Tonari Restaurant**

Almost like an outdoor Izakaya,  Place We Meet 漫长的深夜 is probably one of the most hidden eateries in central Georgetown. Tucked away from the bustling Chulia Street, one needs go to through Q Hotel (previously known as Time Capsule Hotel) in order to reach Place We Meet. It can be found at the back of the hotel, once you have reached the entrance of Q Hotel, make your way through the convenient store/ reception counter and you will find this place... an al-fresco area with simple seating arrangement. But the menu is not weak... apart from the skewers, there are a few choices of main and all of them are affordably priced. The waiting time could be long depending on the crowd, definitely worth checking out if you are a big fan of Japanese-styled barbecue as well as stir fries.

[Skewers] Eryngii Mushroom (Rm 2)/ Zucchini (Rm 3)/ Chicken Wings (Rm 2.50)/ Tsukune Mentai Mayo (Rm 4)/ Unagi (Rm 8)/ Tamago Mentai (Rm 4)

[Skewers] Chicken Thigh with Leek (Rm 4)/ Chicken Thigh (Rm 4)

Yaki Soba (Rm 10)

Salmon Sashimi (Rm 20 for 5 pieces)

Place We Meet's Salmon Sashimi is priced on the higher side. We had ours at Rm 20 for 5 pieces... not too shabby- thick cut and pretty fresh. It took them a while to serve the Skewers as they were grilled over charcoal fire; the main was served first. We had Chicken Yaki Soba... which came in a huge serving portion. The noodles were legit and the sauce was spot on. It was a straight-forward dish, the Yaki Soba sauce was probably the buy-over-the-counter type of Yaki Soba but the seasoning was spot on- a good mix of both sweet and savory elements. On the skewers, none of them disappoint but neither were there any outstanding ones. All of them were pretty standard average but most skewers were quite heavy on the seasoning, for instance, the Zucchini was slightly over-seasoned and a little salty. Our favorite goes to the Tamago Mentai which provides good value in return and satisfying quality.
