D'Viet House @ Auto City, Bukit Mertajam, Penang.

Replacing Brew Cafe is D'Viet House, a new Vietnamese joint that offers a big Vietnamese menu. The place is conveniently located near the entrance to Shop-In d'Park, D'Viet House gets very busy in the evening when streams of diners and drinking crowd are in search of sustenance. The restaurant has an amazing selection of Vietnamese delights- from the common noodle dishes (Pho) to crisp bun stuffed with chock-full of Asian slaw (Banh Mi) or various uncommonly seen Vietnamese grills... each served with a substantial size. The interior decor has not changed much since then... but is more refined with some elegant Vietnamese touches. Great flavors, big portion, inexpensive price points and comfortable dining space; definitely a place worth visiting.

Stir Fried Beef Noodles (Rm 16.90)

Grilled Lemongrass Chicken Banh Mi (Rm 10.90)

Passion Fruit Juice (Rm 9.90)

Grilled Beef in Betal Leaves is an uncommon dish... minced Beef wrapped in Betel Leaves and grilled to perfection, served with Vermicelli Noodles and Vietnamese dips. D'Viet House served it in a creative way- by way of Vietnamese Spring Rolls. The fun of eating this dish is that you will need to wrap it yourself. The texture of the Betel Leaf-wrap was good either- meaty, firm and not overly dry. The flavor combo was of course, delicious in its own way. We also had the Stir Fried Beef Noodles... quite a straight-forward dish that relied heavily on the Vietnamese dipping sauce and crunchy greens... a healthy replacement for those who prefer lighter options. The Banh Mi on the other hand, was just average. The Baguette was not as fluffy as we would have hoped... a tad too crispy to our liking.
