Cream By Chin Chin and Tiente Patisserie @ Pintal Tali, Georgetown, Penang.

Whether you like to play it safe with Roast Chicken or go a little crazy with other dishes, you will find great Western-Fusion choices at the new joint- Cream by Chin Chin. Located at Pintal Tali, Cream by Chin Chin and Tiente Patisserie has taken over the space previously occupied by Metisser Patisserie. Managed by the same management team from Chin Chin, the restaurant brings in air of sophistication. The interior decor is minimalist but without compromising on its elegance. The includes modern Western dishes... suitable for budget-watchers or those with deeper pockets. When you are there... look out for the display fridge to the left side of the entrance, it offers a great variety of sweet treats.

Mushroom Tortellini (Rm 24)

Smoked Salmon Chin Chin Dips (Rm 18)

We started with Smoked Salmon Chin Chin Dips and Mushroom Tortellini; the former choice comes with a bottle of spread served with 8 crisply toasted Baguette. The Smoked Salmon flavor was bold sans the unpleasant fishiness. Anyone who loves the smokey-crunch flavor will find the flavor-combination addictive. The Mushroom Tortellini was most comforting... the broth was served piping hot and carried bond earthy mushroom flavor... the pastry texture was spot on either. Though not mind-blowingly good, we thought it's a good replacement to the usual Soup.

One of the safer bets- the Roast Chicken had crisp, puckered skin and unbelievably tender meat (just nicely cooked), served over Chicken Jus and Mashed Potatoes as side (separately). The whole dish was very filling... while the texture was very satisfying, we found the dish a little flat towards the end and best to be shared by at least 2 diners.

Braised Beef Cheek Bourgonion was delicious, the meat was beautifully cooked to fork-tender and served over a bed of creamy Mashed Potatoes. We love the flavors and texture, our only complaint is the portion.... which we hope to be larger.
