3 Korean Fried Chicken (三个小鲜肉) @ Bukit Mertajam, Penang.

As if the fast-food competition is not fierce enough, the South-Korean inspired joint- 3 Korean Fried Chicken joins in the war, opening a new outlet at the Pusat Perniagaan Maju Utama, Bukit Mertajam. Korean Fried Chicken and classic Korean delicacies (like Kim Chi, Tteokbokki, Korean Fried Rice) make up the menu. The serving portion is small but it commensurate with the wallet-friendly prices. While the dining space is welcoming, 3 Korean Fried Chicken does not come across as a place suitable for proper meals... more like inter-meal snacks or perhaps, light afternoon breaks. 3 Korean Fried Chicken can be found few doors away from CIMB Bank at Bukit Mertajam (near Sentosa).

Yang Nyeom Korean Fried Chicken (Rm 8.90)

Tteokbokki/ Korean Rice Cake (Rm 11.90)

Drizzled in Korean sweet-spicy sauce, the thick-crust Korean Fried Chicken at 3 Korean Fried Chicken was alright. It stroke the perfect balance between sweet and spicy. The seasoning of beneath its covering of sauce was paled in comparison, it relied heavily on the sweet-dominant Korean sweet sauce. While the serving portion was small, it was well-justified with the very affordable price tag of Rm 8.90, top up extra Rm 3 for the melted Cheese. Honey Garlic is another flavor available.

The Korean Rice Cake- Tteokbokki drenched in peppery hot sauce was delicious either; it was chewy, sweet with a sleek spiciness. It would be perfect if the sauce could be thicker....

  1. I feel that the Tteokbokki is totally overpriced with only less than 10 pieces of rice cakes :(
